Texture is such a wonderful thing to introduce to any room or scene that you are creating. It can easily be used to inject notes of warmth or coolness to a room, this is a vital component of creating the mood that you want. Texture will also have a huge impact on colour so you should always try to consider the two together.
Nothing brings a sense of life and spirit to a room more than texture. When working and designing with a neutral palette, textural contrast is an important element as it adds depth and contrast to a scheme. Without texture, neutral can easily be too flat and lifeless.
A fundamental part of all of my designs is the combining of textures. What I love is that textures can be found absolutely everywhere, from vases to cushions to corals. Combining them will allow you to create gorgeous layers in your home. Not only does textural contrast such as coarse with delicate or dense with light promote depth; it can be used to promote balance and harmony. When it comes to choosing texture, remember, contrast is key.
